Teaching

Preachers that preach at Witbank Baptist Church are selected expository preachers.

This means that they preach biblical truth derived from a process of exegesis. The preacher uses what is termed the historical, grammatical literal method to interpret the Scriptures.  It is preaching in which its sole source is from the Scripture. The message come from the Scriptures through careful study. It is preaching that  explains the original God intended meaning of the passage to its original recipients and applies the timeless principles to our modern-day situations.

8 They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading. Nehemiah 8:8 (ESV)

Elders are given the task to equip the Saints for service.

We use several vehicles to accomplish the task of equipping the saints for service.

11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, Ephesians 4:11–12 (ESV)

Sunday Seminary

Sunday Seminary, as announced, takes place on a Sunday after the main service, from 11:00 to 12:00.

During this time of teaching, we cover topics like: Evangelism, Marriage, discovery classes, Parenting, Bible study, Devotional life and many other subjects in order to equip the saints.

Other areas of Service training

As the need arises, we also schedule training events for specific areas of service.

We spent a number of weeks working through Bob Kauplins material on worship matters in order to train our worship team.

 Fellowship

Fellowship is facilitated through a number of means.

After Church we have a half an hour of team and fellowship in which we can practice the one anothers.

Once a month we have a prayer meeting on Sunday Afternoons @ 17H00, which is followed by a time of fellowship.

Baptismal events are normally followed up with fellowship meals.

Every Bible study we have is followed by times of fellowship.

We do encourage people to practice hospitality towards one another and so have Biblical fellowship.

Church Camps

Camps also facilitate having good times of fellowship.

Outreach

We divide outreach into two categories:

Evangelism:

Evangelism is the persuasive proclamation of the gospel which calls unbelievers to repent and believe in Christ. It is the responsibility of every believer. Missions will include evangelism, but not be limited to it.

Missions

Missions refers to the sending out of recognized persons, from the local church, to regions or cultures beyond its immediate influence, with a view to strengthening or establishing other local churches.

Evangelism

We encourage a lifestyle of being a witness for Christ.

However, the easiest platform to get involved in sharing the gospel is joining the integration team. At WBC we want to make sure that every person who comes to the church, hears the gospel and those who desire to become members have a proper gospel conversation.

We also will be scheduling some opportunities to do house to house evangelism and other forms of community outreach.

Missions

Mission.

Since WBC is in a church strengthening project, the church has not yet been able to start church planting. It still needs to become fully  self-supporting, self-governing in the sense of having a plurality of elders before we can start becoming self-propagating. However, we do pray for missionaries and are looking to take hands with other churches to help facilitate church planting activities.

Prayer

The Bible teaches us that apart from Jesus we can do nothing.

5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5 (ESV)

We have corporate prayers:

Monday Evenings 19H00

Sunday Mornings 8:30 am -9:00 am

Sunday Afternoons 16:00pm once a month as announced

Prayer also takes place at all Ministry events, like youth, bible studies, Men and women growth groups.

All to the glory of God
